Samoa is a country in Oceania that lies north of New Zealand and east of Australia. Three-quarters of the population of Samoa live on the main island of Upolu. The capital is Apia. Samoa was on the east side of the date line. However, the country switched to the west side of the date line on 29 December 2011. The reason for this was in particular the convenience of cooperating with News Zealand and Australia trading partners. Since Monday, September 7, 2009, there has been driving on the left side of the road on Samoa. The citizens and businesses were not happy with this. However, the government maintained its position to introduce the measure. The reason is that importing cars from New Zealand and Australia is made easier. In these countries you drive on the left side of the road.
